Casecontrol – Controlling
In addition to individual case analysis, Casematch offers an easy-to-use function for analysing and comparing case populations. With just a few clicks, variables, statistical quantities and financial ratios can be viewed at a glance. The user can define the case populations himself using the DRG, ICD and CHOP codes and via demographic, SwissDRG and BFS variables. If the cost data are included in the uploaded data set, these are also evaluated and important key figures are calculated. It is also possible to take a look at the bigger picture. The hospital-internal data can be compared with the anonymised Casematch data pool or the SwissDRG data mirror.
In this example, the cases of ADRG I46 (implantation, change or revision of a hip prosthesis) of a fictitious hospital data set are compared with the Casematch data pool. The length of stay of the fictitious data set is over one day higher than the Casematch benchmark. On closer inspection, the following points are striking and may contribute to the explanation:
- The average age is a few years higher.
- The case mix index is slightly higher. This is also reflected in the distribution of the PCCL and the somewhat larger proportion of cases in a higher-rated DRG.
- In the fictitious hospital, the minimally invasive technique is used much less frequently.
In a next step, the data can also be compared with the SwissDRG data mirror. A very similar picture emerges there. The length of stay is also about one day lower in the data mirror.
